Buying Wholesale Eveningwear: What to Check
This guide is for buyers placing a first wholesale eveningwear order, or changing supplier. We have set out how we work as well, so you can ask another supplier the same questions.
Most guides in this sector talk about fabric and trends and never reach the numbers that actually decide whether an order works. We have reversed that order.

1. Ask how they sell before you ask the price
Turkish eveningwear is usually sold in size packs — one style in consecutive sizes, commonly six pieces such as EU 42 to 52. In a pack you do not choose the split; you sell what arrives.
Sold by the piece, you pick the style, the colour and the size individually. If EU 44 and 46 turn over on your rail, that is what you buy. The risk on a first order drops sharply.
We sell by the piece and have no fixed minimum. Establish this before comparing prices: a pack price and a per-piece price can look like the same number and carry very different risk.
2. Build the size split from your own sales
EU 40–46 turns over most in eveningwear generally, but this shifts hard with the customer. A shop with a plus size rail can take half its revenue from EU 50–56.
Confirm which sizes a specific style is cut in before ordering. Not every style is cut in every size — our collection runs EU 36 to 60, but no single style covers that whole range.
Consecutive size availability sells better than style count. A style available in 44 but not 46 loses the sale.
3. Ask about fabric and lining separately
Fabric is the largest single driver of price. Sequinned and beaded fabrics cost materially more than plain satin or chiffon; the same cut in two fabrics is two different prices.
Lining is the detail buyers most often forget to ask about and the one that generates the most returns. In pale colours and in modest styles, the opacity of the lining decides whether the garment is sellable.
A photograph cannot establish fibre composition. If a supplier does not publish fabric, ask; if they avoid answering, that is itself an answer.
4. Manufacturer or agent?
Buying through an agent, questions about sizing, colour and production timing are passed along a chain and the answer arrives late. A manufacturer holds the patterns, so the answer comes from the production floor.
The practical test: ask who owns the pattern and where the cutting is done. A manufacturer answers both without hesitating.
Sorella Abiye cuts in its own workshop in İzmir, and the styles are ours.
5. Do not accept a single lead time
Lead time is not one number. A style shipping from stock and a style entering production can be weeks apart, and on a seasonal rail — graduation, weddings — that gap can make the order useless.
Ask which of your chosen styles are in stock and which need producing, separately, before you commit. We make that split when we quote.
6. Suppliers who do not publish prices
It is normal not to find a fixed price list on a wholesale eveningwear site. Price moves with the style, the quantity, the colour split and the destination, and a single public list would be wrong for most buyers.
The way to keep that honest is to ask for pricing in writing, against style codes. A price given verbally cannot be compared.
Frequently asked questions
- Is wholesale eveningwear sold in size packs?
- Commonly yes — one style in consecutive sizes, often six pieces. It is not compulsory. Sorella Abiye sells by the piece, so you choose the style, colour and size yourself.
- What is a typical minimum order for wholesale eveningwear?
- It varies by supplier; one pack per style, or 30–50 pieces, are both common in this sector. We have no fixed minimum.
- What drives wholesale eveningwear prices?
- Fabric first: sequinned and beaded fabrics cost materially more than plain satin or chiffon. Quantity, colour split and destination follow.
- How do I tell whether a supplier actually manufactures?
- Ask who owns the pattern and where the cutting is done. A manufacturer answers both immediately; an agent usually cannot.
- How large should a first order be?
- Keeping it small and widening as styles sell is the lowest-risk route. That requires a supplier who sells by the piece — where packs are compulsory, a first order is necessarily large.
